Boğaz Endüstri ve Madencilik (BEM)

BEM operates as a grey cement grinding and packaging plant. Established in 1982 with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons, it invested in a dynamic separator in 1990 to reach 150,000 tons and began bulk cement shipments; it later raised capacity to 450,000 tons through new mill investments between 2004 and 2008, along with the renewal of its port crane and bunker system. BEM introduced a Code of Business Conduct in 2021.



BEM carries out its production and marketing activities in the Northern Cyprus market and continues to develop its performance through the BEM Environmental Management Programme prepared each year.

1982

Commissioned in Kalecik as a member of the Turkish STFA group, with an annual production of 100,000 tonnes.

1990

An upgrade investment raised annual production to 150,000 tonnes.

2003

Acquired by Switzerland-based Holcim Ltd., followed by new investments that strengthened its competitiveness.

2005

A new mill raised annual capacity from 150,000 to 450,000 tonnes to meet construction-sector growth.
