Founded in 1929, CEMLEB is one of Lebanon's longest-standing industrial companies and a leading producer of cement and construction materials. Operating from Chekka, the company has contributed for nearly a century to developing homes, schools, hospitals, infrastructure, and communities across Lebanon.

History and milestones

Nearly a century of cement.


1929

The beginning

Société des Ciments Libanais (CEMLEB) is established in Chekka, marking the beginning of cement production at the site.


1968–1975

Expanding production capacity

Two new production lines are commissioned, significantly increasing the plant’s clinker and cement production capacity.


1997

Modernizing production

The plant transitions from the wet process to modern dry-process technology with the commissioning of Kiln 7, designed for a clinker production capacity of 5,800 tonnes per day.


Today

A new chapter

Following a change in shareholding, the company returns to its historic name, Société des Ciments Libanais S.A.L. (SCL), opening a new chapter in its long-standing industrial presence in Lebanon.

Société Libanaise des Ciments Blancs (SLCB)

Chekka, North Lebanon · Established 28/6/1961

Established in 1961 in Chekka, North Lebanon, Société Libanaise des Ciments Blancs S.A.L. (SLCB) is a subsidiary of SCL and Lebanon’s only white cement producer. With an annual cement production capacity of 100,000 tonnes, SLCB serves the local market and exports to markets across the Middle East. Its operations are supported by synergies with SCL’s quarry and laboratory facilities and are ISO 14001 certified.

Boğaz Endüstri ve Madencilik (BEM)

Kalecik, Northern Cyprus · Established 1982

Located in Northern Cyprus, Boğaz Endüstri ve Madencilik Ltd. (BEM) is SCL’s cement grinding subsidiary, producing and distributing high-quality grey cement across the local market. With annual production and sales exceeding 400,000 tonnes, BEM supports residential, commercial, infrastructure and industrial projects. Its operations are backed by advanced quality-control and laboratory facilities and certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
