ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE

Commitment to the Environment

Cement production is a resource-intensive process. That’s why commitment to responsible environmental performance is at the core of our operations. Our objective is to be compliant with the environmental regulations and legal obligations set by the relevant local authorities in Lebanon. We also go beyond legal compliance by setting strict internal targets to improve our performance continuously.

Our primary goal is to proactively prevent and mitigate pollution sources by assessing our environmental footprint, establishing targets and driving continuous improvement. To support these efforts, we are committed to maintaining and improving our environmental management system based on ISO 14001:2015.

01.

Continuous emission monitoring and reporting

We track stack emissions using online and continuous monitoring and reporting systems.

02.

Independent verification

We are committed to conduct test house measurements once a year with independent certified experts in order to verify that our emissions meet all regulatory standards.

03.

Reducing environmental footprint

We take measures to reduce stack emissions and overall emissions across the plant activities.

04.

Optimizing energy

We continuously optimize our systems and energy to be more efficient and environmentally sound.

05.

Managing waste

We invest in finding sustainable ways to effectively reduce, reuse, and manage waste materials.

Key environmental focus areas

01

Atmospheric emissions

We take a rigorous, transparent approach to managing atmospheric emissions from stacks, ensuring our emissions are accurately measured and continuously reported.

We also actively control fugitive dust caused by material handling, manufacturing processes, and vehicle circulation. We achieve this by identifying sources of dust, taking mitigation measures, and conducting preventive maintenance.

02

Sustainable water management

We prioritize responsible water management by promoting efficient practices and reducing our dependence on freshwater. By optimizing our processes to use non-freshwater alternatives wherever possible, we conserve valuable resources while meeting local legal requirements to ensure our discharged water complies with environmental regulations and limits.

03

Alternative fuels and raw materials

Lebanon’s environmental crises, particularly in waste management and construction and demolition waste, highlight the urgent need for circular solutions. Our commitment to promote the use of alternative materials and non conventional fuels in cement production is a step toward a circular economy that conserves natural resources and protects the environment.

As such, we remain committed to pioneering sustainable waste solutions that protect Lebanon’s environment, conserve natural resources, and provide a greener alternative for the local construction industry.
